Feasibility of fully robotic dual-graft living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) in a 62-year-old woman with end-stage liver disease (MELD 23) due to hepatic schistosomiasis, using two robotic left-lobe donor hepatectomies when a single graft was insufficient.
The recipient underwent successful fully robotic dual-graft LDLT (12-hour operation; warm ischemia times of 46 and 36 minutes; combined graft weight 524 g; GRWR 0.74%) with no early allograft dysfunction or surgical complications and was discharged with excellent graft function.
Single case report with no comparator group; findings may not generalize beyond highly specialized centers; long-term outcomes not reported.
Fully robotic dual-graft LDLT appears feasible in carefully selected patients when no single donor graft provides adequate volume, but this remains a highly complex procedure limited to expert robotic transplant centers.
