A 15-expert ESTRO panel used a Delphi process to develop clinical practice consensus recommendations on how to optimise prostate SBRT, covering patient selection, follow-up, treatment planning, and delivery techniques.
Consensus (≥75% agreement) and strong consensus (≥90% agreement) were reached across a 10-item questionnaire on areas of controversy in prostate SBRT, resulting in defined minimum requirements, common practices, and additional options for implementation.
Recommendations are based on expert opinion and Delphi consensus in addition to published evidence, which may introduce bias; the panel size is small (n=15); and no primary outcome data or patient-level analysis are reported.
RT departments initiating or expanding prostate SBRT can use these ESTRO consensus recommendations as a practical framework for patient selection, planning, and delivery. Where direct evidence is limited, the ≥75% expert agreement threshold provides a structured minimum standard to follow.
